The decline of the High Street has become an all too common news story. Starting my career back in the late 1970’s, as a haberdashery and soft furnishing buyer, I have seen many small towns fall, to out of town shopping and larger shopping centres. Now a few decades on, taking in other factors, like parking charges and the rising price of fuel, shoppers simply have less money to spend. Suddenly online shopping becomes a much cheaper and convenient place to browse and order.

You may be reading this as a beginner, eager to make an absolutely stunning child’s dress, or as an experienced dressmaker. Stanzy and Ivy Fabrics aim is to sell good quality fabrics at affordable prices. I may not have the choice like other sellers, but I am hoping that what I have to offer is quality not quantity.

I have always had a love for sewing and find it an exciting and rewarding pastime. You cannot sew successfully without knowledge of fabrics and our versatile and compliant friend the sewing machine! Fabrics are available in a variety of weaves and textures and colours. Often they are so exciting, that choosing a fabric calls for more than your eye or common sense to guide you. With Stanzy and Ivy Fabrics, I am hoping to give you the enthusiasm and imagination by providing colour ways, and style that blend perfectly with one another.

Remember sewing is an art. It will give you in return a satisfaction that is unique, the joy of creating something that is truly yours!!

Why have a called my online business Stanzy and Ivy Fabrics? The simple answer - named after two very special people to me, my Mum and Mother in law. (Stanzy being a nick name for Constance!)
